The Bungalow

Although the word bungalow may have many different meanings today, one hundred years ago it defined a modest American home. Characterized by the one to one and a half stories, wide overhanging eaves, exposed rafter tails, wide front porches, sleeping porches, the use of natural materials such as wood and stone, the practical use of space, and the color scheme, bungalows were being built all across the country in great numbers. More importantly though, was their feel. They resonate with a certain charm, a warmness which is apparent as soon as entering one.
